SHELTER: This is the website of Shelter.  Shelter is a charity that works to alleviate the distress caused by homelessness and bad housing.  They do this by giving advice, information and advocacy to people in housing need, and by campaigning.  The website has details of a free housing advice helpline that you can ring.  

HOUSING BENEFIT: This is a government website informing you about housing benefit. If you are on a low income and need financial help to pay all or part of your rent, you may be able to get Housing Benefit.   

COUNCIL TAX: This is a government website informing you about Council Tax.  It also had information about what to do if you can't pay your Council Tax bill and how your council might be able to help.    

ENERGY SAVING: This is the website of the Energy Saving Trust.  They are a non-profit organisation that provides free impartial advice tailored to suit you. Their advice can help you save money and fight climate change by reducing carbon dioxide emissions from your home.  They have a free helpline which you can call. 

INSULATION: This is the part of the website of  the Energy Saving Trust, which is a non-profit organisation giving advice on how to save energy in your home.  On this page you can find out about insulating your home, and there is a search facility to find an installer in your area.

ENERGY HELPLINE:  This is the website of energyhelpline.com, which is a price comparison service which provides customers with comparisons on their best gas and electricity deal.

WATER METERS: This is part of the website of  uswitch.com - a price comparison website.  On this page you can find out information about switching to a water meter.

WATER: This is the website of The Water Guide, which contains information about the UK water industry and the companies operating within it.  This includes help and advice about DIY, tips on how to save water, what do to in an emergency, and all about water generally.  It also contains contact information for the various water supply companies.

GAS:  This is the website of The Gas Guide, which contains information about the UK gas industry and the companies operating within it.  This includes help and advice about problems with your heatings system, what do to in an emergency,how to avoid gas accidents, and all about gas generally.  It also contains information about switching gas supplier and contact information for the various gas supply companies.   

ELECTRICITY: This is the website of The Electricity Guide, which contains information about the UK electricity industry and the companies operating within it.  This includes help and advice about DIY, safety in the home, saving electricity, what do to in an emergency, and all about electricity generally.  It also contains information about electricity meters, switching electricity supplier and contact information for the various electricity supply companies. 

FIND A PROPERTY: This is the website of findapropert.com which is a search facility to find properties to rent or buy in the UK.

MAINTENANCE GAS APPLIANCES: These are the homeowner pages from the website of CORGI.  Corgi is an organisation that supports quality in the installation of gas appliances, as well as providing many other services to its members who are gas installers.  You can use this website to find a tradesperson for the installation, maintenance or repair of gas appliances, or check that they are CORGI registered.  

TRADING STANDARDS: If you need advice on any issue to do with the provision of goods or services then you can contact the Trading Standards Institute, which also has a free advice line.

APPROVED TRADERS: This webpage is run by TrustMark, which is a government-backed initiative that helps householders find reliable and trustworthy tradespersons to carry out repairs and improvements to their homes. The scheme is supported by the government, the building industry and consumer protection organisations.
